Here are a few pictures of the Go, Diego, Go! cake I completed this weekend.
One thing you may notice about this cake is that the figures are not handmade. The birthday boy’s mom ordered these characters for me to use. Hey, I’m not complaining. Those were the easiest figures that I’ve ever done! That doesn’t mean that there weren’t plenty of other details to make for this cake. All of the flowers, trees, leaves, hills, and the sun were made from fondant.
The waterfall consists of a blue sheet of fondant draped over the side of the cake. On top of that I brushed on royal icing to resemble waves. I love the way that technique turned out.
This cake was made with 6” and 8” tiers and served approximately 30. It’s filled with cream cheese icing and covered with marshmallow fondant.
